500 Protestierende gegen BERLIN ASPIRE & Co. | 500 Demonstrators against BERLIN ASPIRE & alike

500 Teilnehmer_inen haben am Sonnabend unter dem Motto "Wohnraum ist keine Ware!" lautstark und bunt gegen die Verdrängung einkommensschwacher Gruppen aus der Berliner Innenstadt und für eine solidarische Wohnraumpolitik demonstriert. 

500 People demonstrated on Saturday under the slogan "housing is not a commodity!" against the displacement of low-income groups from the inner city and for a more social housing policy.

Radical Cheerleader Kids

Mit dabei waren unter anderem "Radical Cheerleader Kids", die rüstigen Senior_innen vom Hansaufer und "Miete-Man & Squat-Woman".

Unerfreulich war einmal mehr das Verhalten der Berliner Polizei, deren Fahrzeuge dem Demo-Ende ständig in die Hacken fuhren und die schließlich untersagte, die Abschlusskundgebung vor den Bürotüren von BERLIN ASPIRE zu halten - aus "Sicherheitsgründen". Sollte es nicht umgekehrt Aufgabe der Staatsgewalt sein, die Mieter_innen vor BERLIN ASPIRE & Co. zu schützen? 

Among the colorful and noisy participants were the "Radical Cheerleader Kids", the "Sprightly Pensionists" from the Hansaviertel as well as "Tenant Man & Squat Woman". 

Once more unpleasant was the behavior the Berlin police, whose vehicles constantly bothered the demo's end and who prohibited to have the rallye's final speech given in front of the BERLIN ASPIRE office - for "security reasons". Should it not be reversely the state's task to protect tenants from BERLIN ASPIRE and alike?
